Job description

We believe in a world more loyal, and a world more loyal starts with our people. As a Product Quality Engineering Manager within our Quality department, you will be responsible for:

  • Working closely with the Head of Quality to implement and update our agreed strategy.

  • Improving and monitoring our Quality processes to maintain high-quality standards for our products.

  • Identifying design problems related to product compliance and collaborating with manufacturers on re-engineering product designs to find solutions.

  • Conducting product benchmarking and reviewing new market technologies to drive continuous improvement in product quality.

  • Supporting internal teams during the early stages of product development.

Our product categories are broad and primarily include kitchenware, homeware, travel, and toys.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Collaborating closely with different departmental colleagues to provide daily support in product safety and reliability.

  • Performing product risk assessments, evaluations, and compliance qualifications from concept through various stages of product development.

  • Working closely with suppliers from product concept to the final product, re-engineering designs to ensure feasibility given manufacturing limitations.

  • Identifying issues during the product development and manufacturing processes and implementing corrective improvements.

  • Conducting benchmarking and market reviews to drive quality standards.

  • Ensuring all product compliance is maintained, and technical files are updated in a timely manner. This ensures products placed on the market are safe, of good quality, and fit for purpose.

  • Ensuring the quality of production consistently meets company safety and quality requirements. This includes coordinating with our 3rd-party inspection company to ensure inspections are booked and that no delays to program launches occur due to compliance, safety, or quality issues.

  • Supporting the team in designing new product testing methods to identify product performance based on special product features and claims.

  • Assisting in providing Quality/Technical support to Sales and Program Management, including defining quality guidelines for new ranges prior to launch.

  • Helping to investigate product issues and working with the Quality Manager and suppliers to identify root causes and implement appropriate actions.

  • Helping to build strong relationships with our external service providers, licensor technical teams, and internal global clients to ensure timely and accurate technical support and communication of requirements.

  • Reviewing brand-partner and client quality requirements to ensure they are understood by all parties and incorporated into Quality Management plans as required.

  • Striving to help establish efficiencies in ways of working within the Quality department by standardizing documentation and processes where possible.

  • Supporting efforts to limit the number of quality complaints from local offices/markets and communicating information back into the system to ensure corrective actions are completed and validated.

Job requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in similar roles within manufacturing, laboratory, trading, or retail industries.

  • Degree holder in a related discipline (Quality Management, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent).

  • Good technical knowledge in various hardgoods and homeware product categories such as, but not limited to, cookware, dinnerware, textiles, kitchenware, and luggage, as well as toys or electricals.

  • A good understanding of European and Asian standards (for Asia-Pacific positions only: Taiwan, China, Hong Kong) regulations, legislation, and standards.

  • Good understanding of product testing, test reports, and product inspection reports.

  • Strong analytical mind, independent with excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Good knowledge in production controls and factory audits.

  • Familiarity with product assessment and active involvement in the development of new products from concept to shipment stage.

  • Familiar and solid working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Good business sense, communication skills, and interpersonal skills.

  • Self-motivated with good analytical skills and well-organized.
