As a Product Designer within our Campaign & Rewards Development Department you'll get to work within a talented team of Designers, assisting them on developing products which we will eventually sell in a loyalty campaign. You will be assisting on the design of products from scratch, which also encompasses the logistical and manufacturing aspect of creating something new. Working alongside the and collaborating with multiple departments such as, sourcing, supply chain, quality, sustainability and communicating directly with suppliers.
The primary purpose of this role is to support and assist the team to design and develop product ranges that achieve the department KPI’s. This role will also be instrumental in supporting the entire Reward Development team.
How will the right candidate divide their time:
50% time: Working as a Designer across the Campaign and Reward Development team on a variety of projects. This will entail everything from early stage concept sketches to full 3D range design. Joining colleagues at internal and external meetings to progress range development.
30% time: Researching new trends, benchmarking competitors, assisting other reward development team members building presentation decks, generating ideas and helping to guide concepts with creative suggestions.
20% time: Working as part of a mixed Reward, Creative, Marketing and Brand team on new concepts in categories or with brands that TCC has never worked in before as an innovation workstream
Life in the Campaign and Reward Development team is full of variety and evolving projects. The right candidate should have the temperament to work in a fluid and innovative environment that also balances the need to be productive and precise.
Role and Responsibilities
Support the development of agreed trend led, innovative, competitive, commercial and customer focused ranges by following the TCC process.
Support range development from initial sketching, through prototype revisions to the final product.
Review open market options from suppliers and analyse how to modify them to create unique product offerings.
Work with other designers and suppliers on product/photography briefs, and packaging/display requirements.
Work closely with the Creative team ensuring all ranges have impactful and informative Product Information Packs to support the sales force, to be launched on time for commercial benefit.
Travel to trade shows and suppliers where applicable to oversee product development, identify new ideas for development and relationship management
Support the Brands team with licensed ranges for buy-in and brand approval.
Continually investigate and present new trends and product ideas to the reward and development team.
Review and analyse competitor products, ensuring TCC is constantly benchmarking against the best in the industry.
Interaction with other relevant departments to gather information required for the team and present accordingly as per direction E.g. market research with the insights team
Presentations – draft on behalf of the team for internal and external meetings
Ad hoc duties as required
Skills and Experience
Ideally with previous experience as a Product/Industrial Designer, together with practical problem-solving skills and the drive to develop thoughtful design solutions, you will have strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate ideas through outstanding visualisation skills. Together with:
A degree in Industrial Design / Product Design or equivalent
Industrial design experience
3D modelling skills –Rhino or Solidworks preferred
3D visualisation and rendering skills – Luxion Keyshot preferred
Confidence with 2D visualisation tools - Adobe Creative Suite
Evidence of prototyping abilities
Ability to put together professional design presentations
Excellent communication skills – visual, verbal and written proficiency in English
Self-motivated with a professional approach and work ethic.
