Job description

This role is responsible for delivering accurate, compliant and visually strong packaging artworks for our projects.

Based in Hong Kong, the role reports to the UK Packaging and Studio Manager / UK Pack Manager and works in direct

day-to-day connection and lead by the Hong Kong Packaging Engineer. The role applies the direction of the Group

Packaging Team and helps build a stronger connection between the Hong Kong and UK teams.

The role supports packaging across different brands: from applying existing brand guidelines and graphic systems, to

creating or suggesting simple graphic application routes for brands with limited or more flexible guidelines.

Alongside artwork execution, the role supports pack quality improvement by working with the Packaging Engineer on

structures, artwork updates, quality changes, icon creation, pack information, compliance icons, legal text, layout

optimization and overall pack appeal.

Key Responsibilities

Packaging Artwork Development

  • Create, adapt, and roll out packaging artwork across multiple brands and product categories.

  • Apply established brand guidelines, graphic systems, and group packaging standards consistently across all deliverables.

  • Develop clear graphic application approaches for brands with flexible or evolving visual identities.

  • Optimize packaging layouts, visual hierarchy, and on-pack communication to enhance shelf appeal and perceived product quality.

Production & Print Accuracy

  • Ensure all packaging artwork meets production accuracy, print specifications, and quality standards.

  • Accurately apply compliance icons, legal copy, mandatory markings, and packaging regulations.

  • Implement artwork updates related to supplier requirements, print adjustments, compliance changes, and quality improvements.

  • Prepare clean, organized print-ready artwork files with accurate version control for suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with the Hong Kong Packaging Engineer on pack structures, dielines, layout feasibility, and packaging improvements.

  • Maintain strong day-to-day communication between the Hong Kong Development Team and the UK Group Packaging Team.

  • Support the UK packaging team by reworking packaging artwork where needed to improve workflow efficiency and project turnaround.

Artwork Quality Control

  • Ensure all pack brief information is accurately translated into final artwork and finished packaging.

  • Conduct detailed artwork checks to maintain consistency, accuracy, and brand alignment throughout the development process.

  • Use AI-assisted tools to identify inconsistencies, reduce artwork errors, and support packaging concept development.

Visualisation & Presentation

  • Create high-quality 3D renderings of packaging artwork displayed on finished products for internal reviews, presentations, and approvals.

Job requirements

Must-Haves

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in packaging artwork, graphic production, pre-press, or packaging design.

  • Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Packaging Design, Visual Communication, or a related field.

  • Strong knowledge of artwork roll-out, file preparation, cutter guides, dielines, and print-ready files.

  • Good understanding of print processes, colour management, finishes, substrates, layers, overprints, and supplier artwork requirements.

  • Ability to apply brand guidelines consistently and adapt graphic systems across multiple SKUs, pack structures, and sizes.

  • Ability to create simple, clear, and visually appealing graphic application routes when brand guidelines are limited or flexible.

  • Good understanding of packaging compliance icons, mandatory pack information, and legal text application.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to check packaging briefs against final artwork files.

  • Good eye for layout, hierarchy, space optimisation, and perceived on-pack quality.

  • Clear communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with teams in Hong Kong, the UK, suppliers, quality, and product development.

  • Highly organised, precise, proactive, and able to manage multiple packaging artwork projects simultaneously.

  • Hands-on, and solution-oriented, with the ability to balance artwork accuracy, compliance, speed, and packaging appeal.

  • Fluent English and Mandarin

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience working within fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), beauty, lifestyle, or retail packaging environments.

  • Experience coordinating with external print suppliers and packaging manufacturers.

Tools required: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office / PowerPoint, AI tools for artwork checks and concept support, experience with Mac environment.
